Instrument Cluster Shift Display, Does Not Synchronize with Shifter Mechanism

Condition

Instrument cluster shift display does not

Synchronize with shifter mechanism.

May be caused by a looser bolt at the front ball socket of the selector lever cable.

Service

Adjust cable and tighten bolt to correct torque as follows:





- Loosen bolt -2- at front ball socket of selector lever cable -1-.

- Bring selector shaft lever in position "P" on transmission.

- Looking lever must engage in park lock wheel, both front wheels are blocked (cannot be turned together in a direction).

- Tighten bolt -2- to 13 Nm.

Check Selector mechanism (see Repair Manual, Repair Group 37 - Automatic Transmission - Controls, Housing, "Selector mechanism, checking").

- Road test to verify condition has been eliminated.
