Bosch 5.7 ABS/EDL/ASR With ESP






Electrical/electronic components and installation locations
1 - ABS hydraulic unit -N55
^ Located on left of engine compartment.
The hydraulic unit consists of:
^ ABS return flow pump -V39-
^ Can be checked using "guided fault finding" with the VAS5051
^ Valve block (contains the in/outlet valves).
^ The ABS return flow pump -V39- and valve block must not be separated from one another
2 - Sender 1 for brake booster -G201-
^ Located on the hydraulic unit on left of engine compartment.
^ Can be checked using "Guided fault finding" with the VAS 5051
^ Removing and installing, Refer to Powertrain Management, Brake Pressure Switch, Service and Repair
3 - ABS Control Module (w/EDL) -J104-
^ Located on the hydraulic unit on left of engine compartment.
^ Can be checked using "Guided fault finding" with the VAS 5051
^ Do not disconnect connector (42 pin) before successfully completing self-diagnosis. First switch ignition off then separate connector.
4 - Brake Booster Pressure Sensor -G294-
^ Not installed in all vehicles
^ Location: in vacuum hose on brake servo
^ Check On Board Diagnostic (OBD) in engine control module
^ Removing and installing, Refer to Sensors and Switches - Brakes and Traction Control, Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor, Service and Repair
5 - Brake System Vacuum Pump -V192-
^ Not installed in all vehicles
^ Located on left of engine compartment.
^ Check On Board Diagnostic (OBD) in engine control module
^ Removing and installing, Refer to Vacuum Pump, Brakes, Service and Repair
^ Checking, Refer to Vacuum Pump, Brakes, Testing and Inspection
6 - ASR/ESP control lamp -K155-
^ Location: In the instrument cluster
Function, Refer to Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems, Description and Operation, ABS/Edl/ASR/Esp, Faults Displayed By Warning Lamps
7 - ABS warning light -K47
^ Location: In the instrument cluster
Function, Refer to Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems, Description and Operation, ABS/Edl/ASR/Esp, Faults Displayed By Warning Lamps
8 - Warning light for brake system -K118-
^ Location: In the instrument cluster
Function, Refer to Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems, Description and Operation, ABS/Edl/ASR/Esp, Faults Displayed By Warning Lamps
9 - ASR/ESP Button -E256-
^ Installation location: in center console
10 - Sensor for transverse acceleration -G200- and sender for rotation rate -G202-
^ Combined in one housing
^ Location: under rear seat
^ Can be checked using "Guided fault finding" with the VAS5051
^ Observe installation instructions, Refer to Sensors and Switches - Brakes and Traction Control, Wheel Speed Sensor, Service and Repair
11 - Steering Angle Sensor -G85-
^ Location: On steering column between steering wheel and steering column switch.
^ Can be checked using "Guided fault finding" with the VAS5051
^ Observe installation instructions, Refer to Sensors and Switches - Brakes and Traction Control, Steering Angle Sensor, Traction Control, Service and Repair
12 - Diagnostic connections
^ Location: under driver's side stowage compartment
13 - Brake light switch -F- and brake pedal switch (cruise control/diesel direct fuel injection -F47-
^ Adjusting, Refer to Lighting and Horns, Brake Light Switch, Adjustments
^ Can be checked using "Guided fault finding" with the VAS5051
14 - Impulse wheel for right-front and left speed sensors
15 - Right/left front ABS wheel speed sensor -G45-/-G47-
^ Can be checked using "Guided fault finding" with the VAS 5051
^ Replacing, Refer to Sensors and Switches - Brakes and Traction Control, Wheel Speed Sensor, Service and Repair
16 - Impulse wheel for right-rear and left speed sensors

17 - Right/left rear ABS wheel speed sensor -G44-/-G46-

^ Can be checked using "Guided fault finding" with the VAS5051
