Install piston using 3278 piston installation tool






Special tools and equipment

- 3278 piston installation tool

Note:

- If a new funnel is used for installing piston, guide piston with oiled piston rings through funnel twice and remove resulting shavings if necessary. Only then, install piston and piston rings.

Procedure

- Slide piston into oiled funnel by hand. The flat side of the piston head must point in direction of funnel pins (arrows).
- Hold funnel (with inserted piston) at upper edge and slide piston in with both thumbs.
- Slide in piston far enough until it protrudes out of lower edge of funnels by approximately 15 mm.
- Set piston onto respective cylinder bore. Funnel pin (arrow) must point toward center of cylinder block.
- Securely set funnel onto cylinder block and slide in piston.
