Vehicle Alignment

Vehicle alignment

General

The vehicle alignment should be measured using VW/AUDI approved wheel alignment equipment!

We recommend that the front and rear axles are measured when performing alignment measurements.

Otherwise correct vehicle performance is not guaranteed and an off center steering wheel may exist.

Notes:

^ Perform vehicle alignment only after 1000 - 2000 km (600 - 1200 miles) to allow suspension time to settled.
^ Otherwise precise settings are difficult to reach.
^ When making adjustments the relevant specifications are to be adhered as close as possible.

If the installation position of the rear axle and the direction of travel of the vehicle is not taken into account an off-center steering wheel may occur.

Steering wheel and steering column are marked.

These positions must not be changed!

A - Line on steering wheel
B - Punch mark on steering column

These positions must not be changed! Steering rack center position is not ensured.

Only then the center position on the rack can be guaranteed!

Vehicles with Electronic Stabilization Program

If the steering wheel has been repositioned on these vehicles, the basic setting of steering angle sensor must be checked!

Refer to Powertrain Management; Performing self-diagnosis.

Steering columns supplied as a spare part do not have a center punch mark.

These spare part steering columns must be marked after vehicle alignment and test drive.

Tightening torque:

Multi-point socket-head bolt; 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)

Wheel alignment must be checked if:

^ Vehicle is not toe properly
^ Damage from an accident.

^ Axle components have been damaged or replaced see following table
^ Tire wear on one side.
