Audio System - Radio Inoperative Following Replacement

All With Premium V or Premium VI Radio 2002 --> 2004

Condition

After radio replacement, Instrument Panel cluster replacement, radio removal and installation, or after battery disconnect, the Premium V or Premium VI radio may be inoperative or be in "Safe Mode".

Service

Due to software changes in the Premium V or Premium VI radios, it is required that the radio code be entered correctly to ensure instrument cluster recognition.

When servicing, perform the following to ensure that the instrument cluster properly recognizes the radio coding:

- Remove radio fuse (see VESIS for Wiring Diagram for your particular model.

- Reinstall fuse, switch ignition ON, switch radio ON.

^ Radio now indicates SAFE.

- Input radio code.

- Switch ignition OFF, wait 30 seconds and remove radio fuse once again.

- Reinstall fuse and switch ignition ON.

^ Radio is now functional.
