Automatic Dimming Interior Mirror

Automatic Dimming Interior Mirror

Automatic dimming interior mirror darkens infinitely when driver is "Blinded" from behind.

It consists of a mirror element and an electronic element with two photo sensors.

Electronics recognize light incidence from front and rear through photo sensors.

If light incidence is greater from rear than from front electronics apply voltage to conductive coating.

Applied voltage changes color of electrolyte. Greater the voltage the darker the electrolyte. Therefore light incidence is reflected to a lesser degree.

When selecting reverse gear or activating switch in interior mirror, dimming function is switched off and one can use mirror to back out of a dark garage.

- Checking function:
- Switch on ignition.
- Cover photosensor - 3 - and illuminate photosensor - 2 - using a flashlight, mirror surface must darken when doing this (reverse gear must not be selected).
