Compact Disc Player (CD): Service and Repair



CD Player, Removing And Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items needed.







- Radio removal tool 3316 (two identical pieces).

Removing

CAUTION: Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.

- Eject any CDs that may be present in the CD drive.
- Remove radio.







- Insert tool 3316 into openings on face of CD Player until they are felt to engage and then pull CD Player from instrument panel opening using handles on tool 3316.
- Disconnect electrical connectors from rear of CD Player.

NOTE:
- CD Player must be pulled straight out from opening. Do not twist or tilt tool 3316 while removing.
- To remove tool from CD Player, release locking tabs on side of radio when removed.
- Orientation of CD Player and radio may not be as illustrated.

Installing
- Reconnect electrical connectors at rear of CD Player.
- Insert CD Player into instrument panel opening and push straight in until locking tabs engage.
- Attach CD Player cable to radio.
- Reconnect remaining electrical connectors and antenna cable at rear of radio.
- Insert radio into instrument panel opening and push straight in until locking tabs engage.
- Input radio anti-theft security code.

NOTE: After CD Player replacement/installation, confirm radio sound system coding using applicable On Board Diagnostic program. Radio systems "Premium IV and V". Radio system Premium VI" use VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information System or VAS 5052 Vehicle Testing and Service System in mode "Guided Fault Finding".
