Windshield, Removing

- Removing plenum chamber cover.
- Remove A-pillar trim.
- Remove rearview mirror.
- Interior mirror with rain sensor.
- Unhook sun visor - 1 - out of mount - 2 -.
- Remove cap - 6 -.
- Remove bolt - 5 -.
- Remove sun visor mount - 4 - from mounting and disconnect harness connector - 3 -.
- Remove cap - 7 -.







- Remove bolts - 8 - and remove mounts - 2 -.

NOTE: Center sun visor must not be removed.

- Insert Protective molding foil V.A.G1474/13 - 1 - between windshield and instrument panel.
- Loosen sealing lip in upper area of windshield using a plastic wedge and spray in Cleaning solution D 009 401 04 (as a substitute for lubricant).
- Using tube, insert cutting cord into window flange (cutting cable can also be used).
- For very narrow gap dimensions, guide cutting cord from outside and press under lip using plastic wedge.
- Place cutting thread - 2 - around window (cutting cable can also be used).
- Push cutting cord through adhesive sealant into vehicle interior using Awl V.A.G 1474/2 (from Separating device for bonded windows V.A.G 1474 A). Cutting cord is doubled up to windshield wiper axle.







- Loosen bolt - 3 - for linkage - 4 - and secure cutting thread.
- Secure inner cord end to Spooling tool V.A.G 1654.
- Place Spooling tool V.A.G 1654 into "Position 1".
- Move Spooling tool V.A.G 1654 according to position required and cut windshield free.







- While cutting free, press cutting cord against window using plastic wedge in order to have clearance from window flange and instrument cluster.
