Antenna, Radio: Description and Operation

General Information

Two different (model dependent) antenna systems are installed.

Each antenna system requires specific servicing and diagnostic procedures.

Standard antenna
An amplified, roof mounted mast antenna is installed on Passat Sedan and Wagon models from m.y. 1998.

Diversity antenna
An amplified "diversity" antenna system integrated with the rear window(s) is installed on Passat W8 Sedan and Wagon models from m.y. 2002.

Before troubleshooting or servicing, technicians must be familiar with the functions and operation specifics of the applicable standard or optional radio and associated antenna system. Always read the radio owner's manual and review all notes regarding radio reception characteristics and limitations.
