Front Coolant Pipes, Removing and Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose clamp pliers (VAS 6362)





Drip tray for workshop crane (VAS 6208)





Removing

Proceed as follows:

CAUTION!
Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

When the engine is warm the cooling system is under pressure.

Reduce pressure by covering coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully opening.

- Open coolant reservoir cap.

- Remove the cover for the air guide; disengage the side clips to do so - arrows -.





- Unclip the lower air guide, disengage the clips to do so - arrows -.





- Remove the lower air guide together with the air guide hose.

Rabbit and Scirocco with engine codes CAWA and CAWB:





- Open the latch - 1 -, unclip the fuel lines - 2 - and loosen the bolts - 3 -. Remove the charge air pipe.

- Disconnect the vent line - 1 -, unlock the EVAP cannister - A - and remove it upward - B -. Move the EVAP cannister to the side.





All:





- Loosen the hose clamp - 2 -.

- Remove bolt - 4 -.

- Disconnect the electrical connectors - arrow - and free up the electrical wire.

- Remove noise insulation => Body Exterior 50 noise insulation.

- Remove the air guide pipe - items 1 and 2 -.





- Remove the bolt - 1 - and remove the air guide pipe downward.





- Place drip tray (VAS 6208) under engine.





- Remove the coolant hoses from the After-Run Coolant Pump (V51) - arrows -.

- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 - and remove the front coolant pipes from the coolant hoses - arrows -.





Installing

Tightening specifications => [ Coolant Pipes, Assembly Overview ] Coolant Pipes, Assembly Overview.

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Always replace gaskets and seals.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate for the model.
