Timing Chain Cover Assembly Overview
1 - Wiring router
^ For wiring harness
^ With coolant pipe
2 - Stud bolt, 8 Nm
^ For ground connection
3 - Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor 2 G163
^ For exhaust camshaft
^ Before disconnecting, mark allocation of connector to component
4 - Chain tensioner, 40 Nm
^ Only rotate engine with chain tensioner installed
5 - Seal
^ Replace if damaged or leaking
6 - Bracket
7 - Seals
^ Replace if damaged or leaking
8 - 23 Nm
9 - Bracket
^ For wiring harness
10 - Coolant thermostat housing
11 - Bracket
^ For wiring harness
12 - Seal
13 - Timing chain cover
^ Coat sealing surfaces with sealant D 176 501
^ Prepare cylinder head gasket for installation.
14 - Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor G40
^ For intake camshaft
^ Before disconnecting, mark allocation of connector to component
15 - O-ring
^ For oil channel seal
^ Replace
^ Oil before assembling
Sealing Rings, Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Fitting sleeve 3378
^ Fitting sleeve 3253/6
- Do not lubricate seal.
- Install seal with fitting sleeve 3378 into the cover - 1 - and pull in flush with fitting sleeve 3253/6.
