Haldex Clutch Grooved Ball Bearing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Thrust plate (VW 402)

• Punch (VW 412)

• Thrust piece (VW 431)

• Thrust piece (VW 454)

• Tube (3296)

• Mounting universal joint (41-501)

• Wrench (VW 278B)

• Tube (T10030/6)

• Heat gun (VAG 1416)

- Disconnect the exhaust system at the clamping sleeve - arrows - and remove the rear part of the exhaust system





• Do not bend the exhaust system flex joint more than 10 degrees or it could be damaged.

- Remove the rear flexible disc. => [ Rear Flexible Disc ] Rear Flexible Disc.

- Remove the flange hex nut.





A Hex bolts M10 x 25
B Socket hex head screw M8 x 15 (installed from rear in bracket counter support (3415))

- Remove the driveshaft flange. Use three arm puller (e.g. Kukko 12-1) if difficult to access.





- Remove the seal using an extractor lever (VW 681 )





- Haldex clutch, removing => [ Haldex Clutch, with Final Drive Installed ] Haldex Clutch, with Final Drive Installed.





- Place the Haldex clutch on a clean workbench.

- Remove the Haldex clutch housing.

A - Two arm puller (Kukko 20-20)

- Remove the circlip - 1 -.





- Remove the grooved ball bearing.





- Install the new grooved ball bearing as far as the stop.





- Insert the circlip - 1 -.





- Warm the grooved ball bearing - 2 - to approximately 80° C using the heat gun (VAG 1416).

- Center the axial needle bearings - 5 through 7 - on the clutch plate - 1 - => [ Clutch Plate Assembly ] Haldex Clutch Assembly Overview.





- Position the Haldex clutch housing by hand on the clutch disc - 1 -.

• The centered position of the axial needle bearings - 5 through 7 - must not change when the housing is installed.

- Before installing, lightly coat the outer circumference of the new seal and between sealing lips with high performance Haldex clutch oil.





- Install the new seal as far as the stop using the thrust piece (T10019). Do not tilt the seal when doing this.

- Press the flange on.





- Insert a new hex nut with locking compound (D 000 600 ) and tighten. Tightening specification => [ (Item 14) Nut ] Haldex Clutch Assembly Overview.

B Socket hex head screw M8 x 15 (installed from rear in bracket handle-hold dr.shaft flange (3145))

- Haldex clutch, installing => [ Installing ] Haldex Clutch, with Final Drive Installed.

- Install the rear flexible disc. => [ Rear Flexible Disc ] Rear Flexible Disc.

- Install the exhaust system and align it without tension

- Fill high performance Haldex clutch oil and check oil level in Haldex clutch => [ Haldex Clutch Oil Level, Checking ] Haldex Clutch Oil Level, Checking.
