P0700 - Transmission Control System, MIL Request

For wiring diagrams, refer to.

When Monitored: With the ignition on.

Set Condition: The PCM receives a CAN Bus message indicating that a DTC is present in the TCM.






Always perform the pre-diagnostic troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting Procedure

Test Step 1 - DTC is Active

Diagnose and repair any other DTCs that are set in the PCM before continuing.

This DTC will set in the PCM to indicate that a DTC is set in the TCM.

When all repairs have been completed, clear DTCs in the PCM and TCM.

Turn the ignition ON.

With the scan tool, select view DTCs in the PCM.

Is the status active for this DTC?

Yes

Go to Test Step 2 => [ Test

No

Refer to the checking for an intermittent DTC diagnostic procedure. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Checking for an Intermittent DTC

Test Step 2 - DTCS Present in the Transmission Control Module

If the scan tool is unable to communicate with the TCM, or if there are related communication DTCs present, refer to the Communication Category and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.

Turn the ignition ON.

With the scan tool, select view DTCs in the TCM.

Are there any DTCs present in the TCM?

Yes

Refer to the Transmission Category and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.

No

Go to Test Step 3 => [ Test

Test Step 3 - PCM

Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the TCM and the PCM.

Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.

Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.

Refer to any technical service bulletins that may apply.

Were any problems found?

Yes

Repair as necessary.

Perform the PCM Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC

No

Replace and program the PCM.
