Front Seat Backrest Covers and Upholstery

• The following describes removing and installing components on the left seat. Removing and installing components on the right seat is identical.

Removing

- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat

- Attach the seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove the front seat belt latch. Refer to => [ Front Seat Belt Latches ] Front Seat Belt Latches

- Remove the trim from on the tunnel side from the seat. Refer to => [ Seat Trim, Tunnel-Side ] Seat Trim, Tunnel-Side

Vehicles with Manual Seat Adjustment

- Remove the trim on the sill-side from the seat. Refer to => [ Sill-Side Seat Trim ] Sill-Side Seat Trim

Vehicles with Electric Seat Adjustment

- Remove the trim on the sill-side from the power seat. Refer to => [ Power Seat Sill-Side Trim ] Power Seat Sill-Side Trim

- Remove seat adjustment switch in backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest Seat Adjustment Switch ] Backrest Seat Adjustment Switch

All Vehicles

- Remove front seat backrest. Refer to => [ Left Front Seat Backrest ] Left Front Seat Backrest

- Attach the backrest to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Press corresponding button in headrest guide and pull headrest - 1 - out of backrest.

Vehicles with Manual Seat Adjustment

- Remove operating knob - 2 -.

- Position a screwdriver in - direction of arrow - and pry trim - 3 - out of mount.

• When installing, securing spring - 4 - must be removed from lever - 5 - and replaced.

Vehicles with Manual Lumbar Adjustment

- Remove the lumbar support adjusting wheel - 6 - using the Pliers (3392).

All Vehicles

- Disengage backrest profile - 7 - on both sides.

• The profiles - 7 - are not present on all equipment versions.

- Release profile - 8 - from mount - 9 -.






- Fold cover - 1 - upward and remove cover - 2 - on back side from mounts in backrest frame.






- Unfasten the tension wires - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Fold cover up a little farther and loosen profiles - 3 - and - 4 - from corresponding wires in backrest frame.






- Using a small screwdriver, unclip cover profile - 1 - on front side from mounts - 2 - in upholstery.






• Cover is shown removed in illustration to provide a better overview.

- Fold cover up farther and disengage tensioning wire - 1 - on right side from bracket - 2 -.

- Disengage left tensioning wire - 3 - from bracket - 4 -.






- Loosen profiles - 1 - on back side from corresponding wires in backrest frame.

- Remove backrest cover - 2 - from frame.






- Pull cover - 1 - over headrest guides - 2 - and - 3 -.






- Remove upholstery - 1 - from seat frame - 2 -.






Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.
