Fig. 150 LAMBDA SOND:
- To replace the Oxygen Sensor, apply some "Never-Seize" Volvo part number 1161035-9 or equivalent to the threads of the new sensor. Fig. 150. Make sure that no paste enters into the slots on the tip, this will render the Oxygen Sensor ineffective. Torque the Oxygen Sensor to 55 Nm (40 ft.lbs).
Fig. 181 REMINDER LIGHT:
- A service indicator lamp (Fig. 181.) on the instrument cluster is activated at 30,000 mile intervals. When the light is activated, Oxygen Sensor should be replaced.
Fig. 180a RESET BUTTON:
- To reset the service indicator lamp (after replacing sensor), locate the mileage counter. A small speedometer cable runs from the back of the speedometer head to the black colored mileage counter, two red wires also go to the mileage counter from the back of instrument cluster. Remove the small retaining screw holding reset button cover to the mileage counter. Press large brass reset button and listen for click. Restart engine to ensure indicator lamp stays off. Reinstall reset button cover and screw.
NOTE: Many vehicles will have the mileage counter missing or disconnected, these vehicles should not require service indicator lamp resetting as the indicator lamp will be inoperative. Reactivation of service indicator lamp system is optional.
