Injector Opening Pressure Test

Fig. 9 Fuel injector testing tool:

1. Remove injector from the engine. Disconnect injector fuel line.
2. Connect injector to special tool 9934, Fig. 9. Before tightening the tester fitting onto the injector, lightly pump the tester to bleed out any air from the tester and the injector.
3. Open tester valve (handwheel). Pump up pressure slowly until the injector opens. Correct opening pressure is 37-51 psi (2.6-3.6 kp/cm2). Never exceed a pressure of 85 psi (6 kp/cm2).
4. Lower pressure to 34 psi (2.4 kp/cm2) by screwing out the handwheel. Check that injector leak does not exceed one drop per 15 seconds.
