CLEANING THE HEATER UNIT DRAINAGE HOSE, 200

In certain cases the heater unit drainage hose can be blocked by residue from glues and other types of particles. Correct function of the drainage hose is important to avoid dampness from damp penetrating the interior of the car.

This service bulletin describes the method for cleaning out the drainage hose. The drainage hose should be cleaned initially, under warranty, to remove glue residue.

Subsequent cleanings to remove debris should be carried out at the standard service interval recommended for your vehicle.

METHOD FOR CLEANING OUT THE DRAINAGE HOSE

REMOVE:

- sound insulation on right side
- side panel on center console, right side

Fold back carpet at the transmission tunnel

DETACH DRAINAGE HOSE




- at grommet in the transmission tunnel
- from the heater.

Pull hose straight down.




Remove choke in the drainage hose (Applies from model year 1992)

Clean out the drainage hose and choke. A cable tie or strip clamp can be used as a tool to clean out the hose.

Reinstall choke in the drainage hose. It should be located approx. in the middle of the hose. Open recirculation door and remove any debris.




Reinstall drainage hose on heater and grommet in transmission tunnel

Fold back carpet

Reinstall side panel on center console. Reinstall sound insulation.

WARRANTY STATEMENT:

Claims may be submitted under the New Car Limited Warranty for removal of glue residue from the drainage hose on a on-time basis ONLY.
