Removal and Installation

REMOVAL/INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:

NOTE: Special Tools Required: 2810, 5035. Use lifting sling 5035 and lifting yoke 2810, when removing/installing the engine. The engine is removed and installed complete with transmission. Prior to removing, coolant and engine oil must be drained.

Remove From Engine Compartment:

Removing/Installing Engine:

Engine Compartment:
Remove/install the following:
- hood.
- battery cable from battery.
- air filter.
- radiator and fan cover.
- move power steering pump and AC compressor to one side. Do not disconnect the hoses.
- release electric cables, water hoses, vacuum hoses and wires.

Remove From Underneath Engine:

Underneath Engine:

CAUTION: Use jack support stands.

Remove/install the following:
- splashguard under engine.
- exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
- engine mount bolts in front axle cross member.

Remove From Transmission:

Transmission:

CAUTION: Support transmission with a jack

Remove/install the following:
- front support for exhaust pipe.
- (manual transmission): clutch cable and the gear lever.
- (automatic transmission): selector linkage from transmission.
- speedometer cable.
- propeller shaft.
- transmission cross member.
- detach electric cables.
