Technician Safety Information

WARNING:
^ Toxic gases may be formed if refrigerant comes in contact with a flame or other strong source of heat.

^ The pressure in a refrigerant container will rise if the container is heated, with the risk of explosion. For this reason, containers should not be exposed to temperatures above 45°C (113°F).

^ It is extremely important to prevent air from mixing with refrigerant R134a. The mixture will become flammable at a mixture containing as little as 50% air.

^ Use tight-fitting eye protection if there is any risk of refrigerant leakage. If you nevertheless get refrigerant in the eyes, rinse thoroughly in ordinary tap water
.

Safety Precautions When Working On A/C Systems.
The following must be borne in mind when working on A/C systems:

- The refrigerant used is of low toxicity. The main risk is from frostbite if the skin is exposed to a leak. Eye and skin protection must be used for this reason.

- If refrigerant enters your eyes despite all precautions, rinse the eyes thoroughly with clean tap water. Ordinary cold tap water is suitable. Rinse for at least 10 minutes. Consult a doctor if your vision is affected or if you experience any other permanent effects.

- Wash any area of skin which comes in contact with refrigerant. Use water, preferably lukewarm. Consult a doctor if you suffer permanent frostbite.

- Avoid getting oil (especially PAG oil) on the skin. Oil may cause eczema.

- Irritating and toxic gases may be formed if refrigerant is heated strongly. Ensure that refrigerant can not come into contact with open flames, welding torches, sources of electrical discharge, extremely hot metal surfaces, and so on in the course of the work. Do not smoke when working with refrigerants.
