High Temperature Catalytic Converter
The warning light is lit for 2 seconds after turning on the ignition to check the warning lamp's function.
In the event of a fault in the temperature sensor or the lead between the temperature sensor and the instrument panel, the warning light will stay on.
If the temperature in the converter is high, above 880 ± 30 °C (1616 ± 86 °F), the warning light is activated by a temperature sensor.
The light then flashes.
High temperature in the converter can be caused by engine overload or by a fault in the engine's fuel or ignition system.
