To prevent entry of water into the vehicle interior, drainage of the condensate from the climate control system evaporator has been improved by installing a hose, P/N 946645-9 (approximately 330 mm/13 inches long) between the drain hole and the existing engine compartment righthand side member hole.

This modification was introduced on production models in week 46, 1989
Installation

Before installing the hose, ensure that the drain hole in trie bulkhead is clean, undamaged and free of any restrictions.

Cut a section of hose (as shown above). Ensure that the hose is not twisted.

Dip approximately 30 mm/1.18 inches of one end of the hose into soapy water to facilitate installation.

Insert the hose into the existing hole in the righthand side member (approximately 200 mm/8 inches from the bulkhead) and allow it to hang freely.

Insert approximately 25 mm/1 inch of the other end (the soapy end) into the drain hole.

Note: Do not insert a longer length of hose since this will interfere with efficient drainage of the condensate. The hose does not require to be clipped (although a clip is fitted at the side member end on the production models.)
