Battery ground cable - new routing

Should it ever become necessary to replace the battery ground cable for a naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, install a new ground cable and re-route it using the following procedure.

battery cable, B230F 3544123-7 1
battery cable, B234FS 3544189-8 1




PROCEDURE

Remove/disconnect:
- battery gr-ound cable (1)
- clip securing positive and negative cables (2)

- small cable from member (3)

- pre-heater hose (4). Place hose to one side.
- pre-heater hose brackets (5).



Remove/disconnect:
- splashguard under engine
- battery ground cable terminal screw at engine

- round cable terminal from ground cable



Support new ground cable and bracket from member.

Run new ground cable behind servo pump hoses.






Pull original ground cable out of sleeve.

Re-secure light cable to member.

Connect ground cable to battery.

Clamp cable at yellow mark.


Re-apply anti-corrosive grease to battery terminals as needed.
