New sliding elements and new mounting in front doors

The front window winders on 1992 700 and 900 series cars have been equipped with new sliding elements, while the mounting of the winder mechanism in the door has also been modified. These modifications mean that the winding action is now smoother.

Only new version front doors are available as replacement parts.

If a door must be replaced on a 1983-1991 model and the original winder mechanism is to be retained, a conversion rail (p/n 3536798-6) with a plastic liner and clip must be installed as described below.

Installation of conversion rail

Remove original winder mechanism as refered to in the above referenced manual (pages 23 or 25).





First install conversion rail with plastic liner in winder mechanism. Next, install mechanism in door. Use center hole to mount rail as shown.

Note:
Rail has two alternative mounting positions. On cars with power winders, the rail should be installed with the large opening facing forward towards the electric motor. On cars with manual winders, the rail should be positioned with the large opening facing rear.

Reinstall winder and other components as described in service manual.
