A plastic fuel tank and a new type fuel gauge sender have been introduced on 1986 M/Y 740/760 models.
The plastic fuel tank reduces vehicle weight and is used on all models. The new type fuel gauge sender is installed on 740/760 Turbo, and 760 GLE. The sender is mounted inside a tube which has two small holes in the bottom of the tube through which fuel enters to move the float. This type sender is less sensitive to fuel level fluctuations caused by vehicle movements.
