Steering Wheel, Wash/Wipe/Turn Signals, Under Dash & Steering Column Removal








Remove steering wheel A2

Refit nut (arrow) after removing steering wheel to keep shaft in position.

Remove upper and lower steering column housing.




Remove wash/wipe/turn signal switch shroud. A6


Remove wash/wipe connector. Unscrew two retaining screws and lift shroud away from shaft.


Identify position of wires connected to turn A7 signal switch and disconnect them.

Remove underdash panel (1) and side panel (2).

Disconnect ignition switch connector.

Note: Not vehicles fitted with ignition switch anti-theft cover. Others proceed to A11.

Remove:

- steering column lower mount
- steering column seal from bulkhead
- defroster hose from heater


Vehicles with torque limiting device, proceed to A17.

Earlier type steering column assembly modification, continue with A12-A16.

Remove:

- bolts retaining steering column support bracket
- bulb failure sensor and retaining clip (2)

Release clip (1) from wiring harness.

Push steering column towards bulkhead to free support bracket from dashboard.

(only for vehicles without ignition switch anti-theft cover) Remove steering column and support bracket.

(only for vehicles with ignition switch anti-theft cover) Drill out shearhead bolts.


Punch center of bolt prior to drilling. Drill diameter should match bolt extractor tool.

Remove ignition switch cover and connector.

Remove steering column and support bracket.

Proceed to "INSTALLING" B1.
