Filling of Unit With Refrigerant From Storage Container

CAUTION:
- The unit may be filled only with refrigerant in gaseous form. Filling the unit with refrigerant in liquid form may result in compressor failure. For this reason, the gas bottle must be positioned with the valve uppermost while filling. Gas bottles with both a blue (liquid phase) and a red valve (gas phase) are also available. If the bottle is of this type, the red valve should be used.

- Read and carry out SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND CHECKS.
Service Units Description and Operation

NOTE:
- The procedure is basically the same as Drainage of A/C system with RHS 650.
Drainage of A/C System

- The A/C system may be drained and the unit filled from an external gas bottle simultaneously.

Filling Of RHS 650 With Refrigerant R134a From Gas Bottle
1. Open main switch (position "0").
2. Connect unit to single-phase 220 V/50 Hz grounded supply.
3. Connect yellow hose between gas bottle (25) and high-pressure circuit (14) or low-pressure circuit (13) since either circuit may be used, the one which is idle at the time should be used for convenience. The other connection (i.e the circuit to which the yellow hose is not connected) should be connected either to the A/C system in the car or to unit, with the connection fitting closed.

4. Filling the unit:
- Valves (1), (2), (3) and (4) should be closed.
- Selector switch (7) should be set to TEST.
- Close main switch (11).
- Open cock to gas bottle.
- Set selector switch (7) to RECOVERY.
- Open valves (1) and (2). Gas bottle containing refrigerant will now be drained automatically to the unit.
- Check unit gauge glass. Close cock on gas bottle when desired quantity of refrigerant has been transferred to the unit.
- Wait until lamp (9) has gone out, indicating that hose is clear of refrigerant.
5. Conclude operation:
- Close valves (1) and (2).
- Set selector switch (7) to TEST.
- Close main switch (11).
- Disconnect gas bottle from hose.
