Cables Damaged





Replacing battery cables

- Remove all clamps securing the battery cables to the front cross-member. Retain 2 for re-use.
- Remove clamp holding battery cables to the righthand (passenger) side member.
- Remove the ground screw securing the negative battery cable to the engine.
- LOWER THE CAR.
- Remove battery positive terminal.
- Disconnect the battery positive cable from the other cables connected to the battery positive terminal.
- Remove ground cable from the top of the right side member (passenger side).
- Remove the fresh air hose (Air Mass Meter to Throttle).
- Remove the positive cable from the starter motor.
- Disconnect preheating hose from manifold and bracket on the frame right side.
- Put the hose to one side.
- Remove preheating hose bracket from side member.
- Install a new bracket with battery negative cable to the right (passenger) side member.
- Install ground terminal on right side member.
- Reinstall preheating hose.
- Remove 2 clamps on left (driver side) in engine compartment, on side member, and cross-member (motor mount). Retain for re-use.





NOTE:
The new cable should be routed the same way as the existing positive cable.

- Install the new cable on the starter motor.
- Install cable clamps (2) on the left-hand (driver) side of the engine compartment (yellow alignment markings should be used).
- Install fresh air hose.
- RAISE THE CAR.

NOTE:
The clamps on the side member and passenger side of the cross member A & B, should have the new clamp P/N 952628-6. The yellow alignment mark matches to clamp A.

- Install clamp holding battery cable at the right (passenger) side member; install 3 clamps on cross member.
- Install the new battery negative cable on the engine.
- Reinstall the splash guard under the engine.
- LOWER THE CAR





- Clean both battery posts
- Connect battery positive terminal and other cables.
- Connect battery negative terminal.
- Apply surface protection for battery terminals
- Install battery positive terminal protective cover.
- Reset clock and radio code, if applicable.
