Fuel Tank: Description and Operation

The fuel tank, located under vehicle in front of rear axle, is a gasoline storage unit. It can hold up to 16 US gal. (60 l) of unleaded gasoline (91 octane).
The inlet is sealed by the gas cap which incorporates the pressure and vacuum relief valves. These safety valves protect the tank from damage when excess pressure build-up occurs (through heat expansion) or when excess vacuum exists (created by the sinking fuel level during engine operation).
The tank is also equipped with the fuel pump, gauge sending unit, fuel supply and return fittings and a vapor delivery fitting.
