Installation

1. Place gearbox in fixture P/N 5972 on the unit lift.





2. Lubricate the splines on the driven plate and the input shaft with a thin layer of grease P/N 1161138-1.





3. Raise the gearbox. Check that the relase bearing fits correctly into the fork. Hold the gear lever carrier up, raise it and adjust it to fit the gearbox. Fit the upper bolts into the clutch housing. Lift the rear end of the gearbox and fit the gear lever carrier.

4. Fit:
- the connectors
- the gearshift rod to the gear lever
- the propeller shaft
- the rear gearbox mounting
- the gearbox cross-member, and remove the fixture
- the cover plate for the reinforcing bracket at the bottom edge of the clutch housing
- the starter motor
- the exhaust pipe bracket, and tighten the joint
- the clutch slave cylinder or clutch cable





5. Check and adjust the clutch clearance 1-3 mm (0.039-0.118 in). Only on cars with clutch cable. Adjustments
6. Check the oil level. Top up as necessary.
7. Remove engine Support P/N 5006.





8. Connect the cable to the negative pole of the battery.
9. Check the operation of the gearbox.
