Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Service and Repair


Exhaust Gas Recirculation at 60,000 miles

- Service the E.G.R. system at 60,000 miles and every 20,000 miles thereafter.


- To clean the E.G.R. system, remove and tap all parts lightly with a small mallet to get rid of carbon deposits.
- Remove dirt from channels and nipples with a screwdriver and blow parts clean with compressed air.
- Special care should be taken to ensure that valve seat in E.G.R. valve is free of carbon.
- Reassemble all parts.
- When engine is at operating temperature, check that valve opens and shuts when reving up.
