Injectors, Quick Check
F1 Audible Check- Start engine.
- Listen to injectors.
A clicking sound should be heard if valves are operating properly.
- Hold a screwdriver against injector to amplify sound.
F2 If No Click Is Heard:
- Interchange connector with one that operates properly.
If fault is transferred to the "known-good" injector, this shows that fault lies with wiring.
If original injector still does not function, it is probably defective.
- Measure injector resistance.
Resistance should be 16 ohms at 20°C (68°F).
Resistance increases as temperature rises.
F3 If A Click Is Heard But Engine Is Rough:
- Let engine run at idle.
- Disconnect/connect wire from injectors one at a time.
If engine speed drops considerably when wire is disconnected, injector is probably in full working order.
