Removal

Evaporator Core Cleaning

1. Disconnect battery ground lead.
2. Drain system of refrigerant. For more information refer to "Drainage of A/C System. Service and Repair





3. Disconnect evaporator connections in engine compartment.

CAUTION: Plug connections immediately, otherwise air receiver/dryer may be damaged by moisture. Air receiver must be replaced if system has been open for more than 10 minutes.





4. Remove:
- panel under glove box
- glove box.








5. Remove:
- sill moulding
- panel over control module, taking great care to avoid damaging panel. Panel attachment is shown in illustration.





6. Disconnect control module connector.





7. Remove:
- control module mounting screws
- control module
- control module bracket.





8. Disconnect blower motor and resistor electrical connections.
9. Remove lower blower housing retaining screws.

NOTE: Two screws are concealed between blower housing and evaporator housing.

10. Remove complete housing and withdraw evaporator.
11. Drain and measure quantity of oil in original evaporator. Fill new evaporator with same quantity of fresh oil. See specifications for correct quantity of oil.
12. Remove remains of sealant from housing.
