Disconnect the battery




The battery should be disconnected when any electrical components are changed (except bulbs).

Electronic control modules
Never disconnect an electronic control module without first disconnecting the battery negative lead.

Wait for 90 seconds before disconnecting the lead to the module, and also before connecting test instruments or an ohmmeter.

Radios with microprocessors




The radio must be turned off before the battery negative lead is disconnected.
If the radio is not turned off, there is a risk that induction currents may damage it.
