Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Activation

Activation

The alarm is activated by means of the remote button "LOCK" or by locking the driver's door with the key (not in some markets). The central locking system's setting device and the lock cylinder's micro-switches or the remote sensor send signals to the central locking relay which in turn sends a control signal to the alarm control module.

The indicator LED is lit for 5 seconds and then starts to flash. This shows that the alarm is activated.

If any door, the hood or the trunk is open, the LED will not light. When the doors, hood and trunk lid are closed, the LED will start to flash showing that all alarm loops have been activated.

NOTE: The alarm cannot be activated when the ignition is on.

Deactivation

The alarm is deactivated either by means of the remote button "UNLOCK" or by unlocking the driver's door with the key (not certain markets). The indicator LED will then immediately go out.

When the alarm is triggered

The alarm is triggered when:
- Doors, the hood or the trunk are opened.
- The ignition is on (or the starter motor is hot-wired).
When the alarm is triggered, the horn or siren sounds for 30 seconds and the turn signals flash for 2 minutes. During these two minutes, the indicator LED is lit and then starts to flash rapidly (approx. 20 times per sec.).

After deactivation with the remote button "UNLOCK" or the door key (i.e. unlocking), the LED will stop flashing but remain lit. The LED goes out once the ignition is turned on.

NOTE: A maximum of three alarms per loop can be triggered in every activation period.

The alarm is retriggered if the thief makes a new attempt.
If the car door is left open after the car is interfered with, the alarm will be retriggered when another alarm loop is set off or when the ignition is turned on.
