Test Drive
Brake problems may make the car difficult to control. Test driving must therefore always be under safe, controlled conditions.1. Read off any DTCs stored in the control unit and erase them.
2. Switch ignition off to exit from diagnostic system.
3. Start engine. Check that ABS warning light goes out. If light stays on, do not drive car. Check if there are any more DTCs stored in the system.
4. Brake to a stop several times from a moderate speed on an level, dry road. Notice if there are any unusual noises or if the car handles abnormally. Listen for clicks or bangs in particular, note if the car pulls to one side, or if the brake pedal does not seem to be working properly. The first time the road speed exceeds 6 km/h, start the hydraulic unit pump motor for a few seconds to initiate a self-test.
NOTE: If the ABS warning light comes on, stop the car, read off and note down any DTCs which appear; and make a note of the conditions under which the ABS warning light came on.
5. Read off DTCs and check that code 1-1-1 appears.
NOTE: Do not return car to customer until all codes other than 1-1-1 have been eliminated.
