CA. Volvo Diagnostic Key scan tool

General

The figure below shows the Volvo Diagnostic Key ST display text when fault tracing in the MFI LH 2.4 and DI EZ 116 K Systems. The symbols show how to press the buttons to access the various texts. Steps CA2-CA5 show how the Diagnostic Key ST is used for Test Modes (DTMs) 1-3.

CA1




Connection and initiation
- Ignition off.
- Insert memory cassette.
- Connect the Volvo Diagnostic Key ST to the DLC.
- Ignition on.
Search for text "A2 FUEL SYSTEM: Press *".

Diagnostic test mode (DTM) 1
Search for the text "Mode 1: Diagnosis Press *" in diagrams X or Y.
- Press according to the adjacent diagram.
- Read off all DTCs.
- Make a note of all the DTCs.
^ Continue with Deleting DTCs CA3.

Deleting diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
Look for the text "Del. FUEL SYSTEM Press *" in accordance with diagram X or "Del IGNITION SYSTEM Press *" in accordance with diagram Y.
- Press according to the adjacent diagram to delete.
- Check that the DTCs have been deleted in accordance with DTM 1 CA2.

If the DI system DTCs have not been read:
^ Look for the text "A6 IGNITION SYSTEM: Press *".
^ Continue with DTM 1 CA2.

Diagnostic test mode (DTM) 2
Look for text "Mode2: Activation Press *" according to diagrams X or Y.
- Press according to the adjacent diagram to activate.
- Activate the sensors one at a time.
- Read which sensors have been activated on the display.

If there Is no response from the display and the LED still flashes rapidly when a sensor has been activated:
^ The control module has not received a signal from the sensor.

Diagnostic test mode (DTM) 3
Look for text "Mode3: Cyd. act. Press *".
- To initiate press according to the adjacent diagram.
- Listen to see if the component is activated.

If the component is not activated:
^ The component is not receiving a signal from the control module.
