REGINA #2/ REX #7 Idle switch signal missing



Conditions for fault message:
If both Regina and Rex are connected, fault messages are stored if the voltage of the two connections differs, i.e. voltage is not above or below 1.2 V at the same time.

Causes of faults:
Break in wire between throttle switch and Regina #2.
Break in wire between throttle switch and Rex #7.

Fault symptoms:
Low idling speed.
Engine does not start or is difficult to start.
No fuel shut-off during engine braking.

Disconnection of the Volvo System Tester
- Disconnect the System Tester according to P1. P1. Connection of Volvo System Tester

Connect the measurement box to Rex-I and check the chassis connections according to N3-N4. N. Measurement Box, Signal Description
Connect the adapter to Regina according to N1. N. Measurement Box, Signal Description
^ Continue with Checking of idling signal, Rex-I PM3

Checking of idling signal, Rex-I
- Insert fuse no.1.
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between #7 and #20.
The voltmeter should show approx. 0 V.
- Rotate the throttle control so that the idle switch opens
The voltmeter should show approx. 5 V.

If the value is OK:
^ Connection of measurement box, Regina PM4.

If the value differs:
^ Check the wire between #7 and the idling contact for breakage according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring

Connect the measurement box to the adapter on Regina and check the chassis connections according to N2.
^ Continue with Checking of idle signal, Regina PM5.

Checking of Idling signal, Regina
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between #2 and #5. The voltmeter should show approx. 0 V.
- Rotate the throttle control so that the idle switch opens.
The voltmeter should show approx. 5 V.

If the value is OK:
Intermittent fault.
^ Check the connectors for loose connection according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring

If the value differs:
^ Check the wire between #2 and the idle switch for breakage according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
