System Identification

IDENTIFICATION
Vehicles with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) can be identified by the EGR valve under the intake manifold.

Early systems without diagnostics have no temperature sensor. Diagnostic Positive Temperature Co-efficient (PTC) systems have a temperature sensor in either the upper EGR pipe, or in the EGR valve. If installed in the valve, the temperature sensor thread is NPT.

The diagnostic Negative Temperature Co-efficient (NTC) system uses a temperature sensor in the EGR valve only. The sensor thread is M10 x 1.25 and has a sealing washer.
