Noise from manual front seats
Noise can be caused by the legroom adjustment catch (trigger arm) pressing against metal. Noise can also be caused by rubbing between plastic protectors and the height adjustment spacer screw.
Synthetic molybdenum grease (P/N 1161037-5) has been temporarily introduced into production from chassis numbers: 944: 213467, 945: 155999, 964: 70978, 965: 265543.
If noise occurs follow the procedures in this Service Bulletin.
Lubricating catch (trigger arm), 940 model year 1991 - 1995
- Raise seat to its highest point.
- Unscrew side compartment screw.
- Fold up side compartment.
- Lift catch (trigger arm).
- Coat metal surfaces by the sides of the catch (trigger arm) and plastic protectors on the sides of seats with synthetic molybdenum grease (P/N 1161037-5).
- Install side compartment.
- Lower seat.
NOTE!
Be careful when using synthetic molybdenum grease. It is very hard to get stains out of upholstery.
Lubricating catch (trigger arm),
940SE/96O model year 1991 - 1995
- Raise seat to its highest point.
- Unscrew seat from floor according to Service Manual (Section 8 (82-86, 88) Body fittings, ext) TP 8202201, section DA1, page 132. The seat belt should not be removed from the seat.
- Tilt the seat forward in the car.
- Lift catch (trigger arm).
- Coat metal surfaces by the sides of the catch (trigger arm) and plastic protectors with synthetic molybdenum grease (P/N 1161037-5).
- Reinstall seat according to Service Manual TP 8202201, section DA2, page 132.
- Lower seat.
NOTE!
Be careful when using synthetic molybdenum grease. It is very hard to get stains out of upholstery.
