Background:

A knocking sound may be heard from the rear of the vehicle. In such case a new nivomat upper bearing and/or washer should be installed. A service kit consisting of the bearing and a washer has been introduced.

Materials:

Service kit x 2 272383-1 The kit consists of:
- Bearing 9140847-6
- Washer 977991-9

Replacing rear shock absorber bearing

Installing shock absorber upper bearing

Installing new shock absorber upper bearing and washer.

When replacing shock absorber bearing and washer see Service Manual TP 6002201, section 6,7 (65, 72.77) Rear suspension 850 1992-, D1-D14, D18-D23.





Applies only to Fichtel & Sachs. See illustration (1). Install washer between shock absorber and bearing.

Install washer and bearing.





Install a new washer and upper bearing as show in the illustration. (torque spec. is needed for the nut)

(Applies ONLY to Fichtel & Sachs)

Replace both left and right hand side washer and shock absorber bearing mount at the same time.

WARRANTY STATEMENT: Warranty may be submitted under the new car factory warranty when there is a documented customer complaint, using claim type 01.
