Basic Components

Guard Alarm II Basic Components:

Indicator LED Located In Center Of Dashboard W/diode In Speaker And Integral W/sun Sensor.:

1. Hood (bonnet) contact
2. Horn (or siren)
3. Indicator LED
4. Alarm control module
5. Remote control

1. Hood (bonnet) Contact

The LH hood (bonnet) catch has an integral contact which grounds when the hood (bonnet) is opened.

2. Audible/Visible Signal

If an alarm is triggered, attention is attracted by a separate horn (or siren) located in the engine compartment, and a visible alarm by the car's standard turn signals (indicators).

3. Indicator LED

Indicator LED (NON-FACTORY) Used In Basic Alarm W/diode On Speaker Grill:

The indicator LED designed for the basic alarm can be connected. In cars with ECC, this LED is integral with the sun sensor. In either case, the LED is located in the center of the instrument panel. If the alarm was not installed at the factory, a separate indicator LED is included with the set. Install the diode on the driver's side speaker frame.

The LED works as follows:
Activating alarm:
LED flashes once a second.

Alarm activated, fault somewhere in alarm loops:
LED lights up and stays on for 5 seconds, then flashes once a second.

Alarm has been triggered:
LED flashes once a second.

Deactivation once alarm has been triggered:
LED stays lit until ignition is switched on.

Alarm is in service position:
LED flashes once every three seconds.

4. Alarm Control Module

Guard Alarm II System Relay:

The control module is located on the relay plinth (position 210/211) in the passenger compartment relay center. The sensor and indicator LED are connected to the control module via a separate lead to the top of the control module. The control module contains a pro-programed microprocessor which can be reprogramed for different functions. Amongst other things, the microprocessor can take up to 4 different key codes/remote controls.

There are three built-in relays for:
Start inhibitor
Visual signal
Audible signal

5. Remote Control

Guard Alarm II Remote Control:

The remote control has two buttons:
Large button: Activation/deactivation
Small button: Panic alarm

Remote Control Range And Frequencies
The remote control can be used to operate the alarm from any angle up to approx. 20-30 meters from the car. However, the remote control range may vary if radio signals are affected by the surroundings. Remote control frequencies vary depending on the market.

Remote Control Code

When the remote control's large or small button is pressed, a special code is generated and transmitted at radio frequency. The code signal consists of a rolling code sequence which is changed after each time the button is pressed (anti-grab). As supplied, there are two remote controls in the set. Both control codes are pre-programed into the control module memory.

Radio Receiver and Sensor
The radio receiver is built into the control module, and uses the lead to the trunk (boot) contact (RH) as its antenna. Accessory sets installed before the end of 1994 use the LED lead (connected to DI) as antenna. The Window sensor is available as an accessory for the alarm:
