Vehicles With Manual Climate Control (MCC)

WARNING: Cars fitted with SRS, (letters 'SRS' on steering wheel center), must be treated with extra care during repairs. Air Bag Systems

The dash board consists of five main sections: upper frame, lower frame (left and right), defroster duct and cover. Except for the cover, all the main sections are glued together and cannot be separated.

NOTE: When removing complete dash board, there is no need to remove the cover. To remove only the cover, Dash Board Cover Removal

Removal:

Remove:(These steps are carried out from the engine compartment)
- Disconnect battery negative lead.
- Windscreen wiper nuts (A, Fig. 1).
- Windscreen wiper well cover panel screws (B, Fig.1).
- Wiper well.
- Wiper motor mountings. Only undo the screw on the furthest left and lower the section released
- Outer mounting screws (C, Fig.1) for dash board.

Remove:(These steps are carried out from inside the passenger compartment)
- Steering wheel hub plate
- Steering wheel nuts.
- Steering wheel.

Mark steering wheel position relative to steering wheel shaft, as shown in Fig. 3, so that steering wheel and front wheels line up correctly when reassembled.

Remove Steering wheel stalks (4 screws underneath, See Fig. 4).

Remove:
- Steering wheel stalk connector.
- Steering wheel stalks (screws).
- Soundproofing left and right (3 screws).
- Cover (A, Fig. 5) for side defroster (screw).
- Speaker covers, left and right.
- Speakers (two torx screws).
- Speaker connections.

Remove:
- Dashboard mounting screws (see arrows in Fig. 6).
- Glove compartment mounting screws (4).
- Glove compartment.
- Connections inside soundproofing.

Fig. 7:





- Remove knobs (C, Fig.7)) from climate control panel.
- Pull knobs right out.
- Cover knobs with tape and use suitable adjustable pliers.

- Remove 2 screws (Fig. 8) to control panel front.
- Remove front.

- Remove fan switch and recirculation/A/C connector.
- Remove control panel from dash board (4 screws, Fig. 9), lift off.
- Remove radio if fitted.

- Remove 2 screws to cigarette lighter compartment.
- Remove 2 screws inside cigarette lighter compartment.
- Disconnect Cigarette lighter connector.
- Lift off dash board.
(When replacing the dash board, reusable parts such as air ducts and mixer chambers etc. can be switched to the new dash board).

Installation:
- Install dashboard. Screw loosely in position first via two outer screws from engine compartment.
- Install the control panel and connect in its recess first so that dash board can be installed without anything getting caught.
- Install connectors and other parts, then fit all outer mounting screws and tighten.
- Complete installation in order of disassembly.
