Connecting The Break-out Box
HHA. Connecting the break-out boxSpecial tools: 981 3190, 981 3194
HHA1: Testing ground points
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect the break-out box 981 3190 using adapter 981 3194 on the 16-pin green connector (terminals 31-46).
Connect an ohmmeter between battery negative terminal and:
- terminal 36 on break-out box
- terminal 37 on break-out box
In both cases the ohmmeter should read 0 ohm.
If reading is OK:
- HHA2
If reading is incorrect:
- HHA3
HHA2: Calibrating ground terminals, continued
- Ignition OFF.
Measure with an ohmmeter between the batter" negative terminal and position A:3 on the 4-pin connector.
The ohmmeter should read approx. 0 ohm.
If reading is OK:
- Fault corrected
If reading is incorrect:
- HHA4
HHA3: Checking for an open-circuit
Check lead between controller and control module position D:6 or D:7 for break.
Signal Table for the break-out box connected to the 16-pin connector D, Connector D, Signal Tables
Then continue with:
- Fault corrected
HHA4: Checking for an open-circuit, contact resistance and oxidation
Check lead between control module terminal 31 and ground point for break and contact resistance and oxidation.
Signal Table for the break-out box connected to the 16-pin connector D. Connector D Signal Tables
Then continue with:
- Fault corrected
