Parking Brake System: Description and Operation
The parking brake acts on the rear wheels. The parking brake lever (1) is between the front seats. The lever has a locking arrangement which is released by a push-button on the lever. From the lever, two brake cables (2) run to the rear wheels, one to each wheel. The lever mechanism has an adjusting screw (3) which governs the slack in the two cables. The cables are connected to the brake (4) which acts on the brake shoes (5).
The brake shoes are located in the brake drums (6) which are integrated in the rear brake discs. By the brake shoes is the parking brake adjustment control which consists of an adjusting screw (7) which can be used to increase or decrease the distance between the brake shoes, via a special hole in the brake drum.
