SIDE IMPACT SYSTEM, POST-DEPLOYMENT INSPECTION

If the Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) has deployed, it must be replaced.
If this system has not deployed, inspect system components as follows:
1. Lift front edge of seat pocket and push pocket rearward.
2. Remove safety device from holder inside pocket, Fig. 9, then attach safety device to sensor unit.
3. Visually inspect exposed system components for damage to firing tube and protective sleeve.
4. Remove sensor unit as described under "Side Impact Air Bag System, Replace.
5. Remove safety device from sensor unit.




6. Using a suitable caliper, measure sensor unit height, Fig 10.
7. Sensor unit height must be at least 1.06 inches.
8. If any side impact system components are damaged, the complete system must be replaced.
9. Install sensor unit as described under "Side Impact Air Bag System", Replace.
