Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Reading Off DTC's

The DLC is located on the left-hand side of the engine compartment and includes facilities for reading off posted DTCs.

Details of DTCs are held in the control module's memory; only the last three faults registered will be stored, and these are retained even if the battery voltage is switched off.

After reading off all DTCs, they can be erased.

DTM 1. Reading off DTCS

1. Using the ST
- Connect ST to DLC.
- Initialize ST
- Find text "Func1: Diagnosis Press the * key"
- Press keys as shown in diagram on left
- Read off all DTCs
- Note down DTCs
- Go to "Erasing DTCs".

2. Manually via DLC
- Fit selector cable to DLC A terminal 3
- Ignition on

- Press button, and hold it down for about 1 second
- Read off flashes on LED.

If LED does not light up when pressing button:
- Go to BF 'Checking DLC'.

If code 1-1-1 appears:
- No DTCs posted.

If a code other than 1-1-1 appears:

- Write down DTC.
- Press button again as before to see if there are any more DTCs
- Write down all DTCs.

When the first DTC reappears, this means all DTCs have been read off.

Now go to section for fault-tracing for the DTCs read off.
