Mechanical overview
- Check the camshaft setting relative to the crankshaft.
- Check the air intake and the air filler for possible clogging.
- Check that the preheating valve is not open when the engine is hot.

If the camshaft setting, air intake, air filter and valve are OK:
^ Connection of 3-gas meter KA2.

Connection of 3-gas meter
- Connect the 3-gas meter ahead of the catalytic converter.
- Start the engine.
Read off the HC value at idling speed.

If the HC value is above 400 ppm:
^ Check the ignition coil, ignition cables, rotor and spark plugs.

If the HC value is less than 400 ppm:
