Ground Connection

The most important item to check on a radio system is the ground connection. A poorly grounded system will not function particularly well.

It is extremely important that the ground connection is a "true" ground. This item should be checked first when troubleshooting a radio system.


NOTE however that a radio can function even though it is not grounded properly. (It may be grounded via the car body to the aerial ground connection.) To check this, disconnect the aerial wire and switch on the radio.
Check ground connection if there is no current.
