Start Inhibitor Not Functioning

Car will start after alarm triggered

(Step J1) Checking starter motor




- Ignition off.
- Disconnect alarm control module (item C/F).




- Start engine by turning ignition key to position III.
The starter motor should not work.

If it does not work:
- Continue with step J2.

If it does work:
There is a short between the lead to the alarm relay base item 50E and the lead to the alarm relay base item 50F.
- Investigate the starter motor electric system.

(Step J2) Checking the ignition feed




- Ignition off.
- Remove (fuse 4) from fuse box and check that fuse is undamaged.




- Replace fuse.




- Turn ignition to position II.
- Connect a voltmeter between item 15 and item 31 on the alarm relay base. The voltmeter should show battery voltage.

If the reading is correct:
There is most likely a fault on the control module.

If the reading deviates:
There is a break in the lead between the ignition lock and the alarm relay base item 15.
- Rectify the fault or renew the lead.
Replace the alarm control module.
