Fuel Filter: Description and Operation

Fuel Filter And Main Pump Location:

The fuel filter removes contaminants from pressurized fuel to prevent damage to injection system components. It is located under the left side of the chassis slightly ahead of the rear axle. It is in the fuel delivery line prior to the injectors.

Fuel Filter:

It has a metal case to withstand high pressure, a paper filter element and a strainer. The fuel filter is not serviceable and must be replaced, as a unit, at the service intervals recommended. The fuel filter is fuel flow sensitive and must therefore be installed correctly.
